Every day, probably 10 to 15 times a day we get the question about all kinds of music boxes that deal with the size of the movement. Can this music box fit this size movement, can this music box fit that size movement, it is the most common question, by far, in the music box world. There are many note sizes that are produced and Music Box Attic carries every single one of them. You can get music boxes that have installed in them an 18 note musical movement, a 22 note, a 30 note, a 36 note, a 50 note, a 72 note, a 78 note, a 144 note and even a 156 note musical movement. In most cases and most customers the note size does not go above 36 notes, the 36 note musical movement is the cream of the crop from all of the smaller movements, so between 18 and 36, there is 22 and 30, the 36 is the best for your music box.
We highly recommend the 30 note movements, they are much less then most 36 note boxes, they sound great, play for a long time, the 30 note music box movement is a remarkable upgrade on the boxes that have that ability. The 22 note movement is a Swiss musical movement, it sounds great, plays smoothly and is made by Reuge/Romance, so it is a brand name like the 36 note, so that is where the 30 note comes into play, it is made in Japan which is still very good in quality but the price on it is much less, so the 22 and the 30 are comparable whereas the 36 is much more, but it is amazing, it sounds remarkable and is a brand name, you can’t get them just like that, they are hard to get and more scarce, so you are paying for what you get, and get what you pay for.
